REVIEW A peptide antibiotic. Inhibitor of peptidoglycan synthesis. Antimicrobial spectrum: Gram-positive bacteria. Mode of Action: Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by inhibiting dephosphorylation of lipid pyrophosphate. Characterization of the bacterial metalloendopeptidase pitrilysin. Strongly inhibits proline endopeptidase from human muscle.
