REVIEW Nortropine is an example of a tropine alkaloid which are secondary metabolites of Solanaceae plants sharing a tropane skeleton as a common structural feature. The tropine alkaloids are considered to be model anticholinergic drugs (cholinergic antagonists), and continue to provide inspiration in the search for more selective muscarinic receptor antagonists. The compound is also used a bicyclic amino alcohol as a building block or linker in drug discovery for a wide range of targets and therapeutic areas.
