REVIEW Columbianetin, an optically benzopyran is one of the main active constituents isolated from the roots of Angelica pubescens Maxim. f. biserrata Shan et Yuan (RAP) which has been used as a traditional Chinese medicine to treat rheumatic disease in China since ancient times,and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activities. Mechanistically, Columbianetin inhibited expression of COX-2, and inhibited the histamine release by substance P, and show Columbianetin may be helpful in regulating mast cell-mediated allergic inflammatory responses.
