REVIEW
 Bergenin, also called cuscutin, is a natural product iolated from Bergenia species like Bergenia ciliata and Bergenia ligulata, from rhizomes of Bergenia stracheyi. It is also found in the stem bark of Dryobalanops aromatica, in Ardisia elliptica and in Mallotus japonicus. Bergenin is the C-glycoside of 4-O-methyl gallic acid. These are chemical compounds and drugs of Ayurveda, a system of traditional medicine native to the Indian subcontinent and a form of alternative medicine. Bergenin shows wide ranging pharmacological activities; immunomodulation, antihepatotoxic, antiarrhythmic and antiparasitic properties.
