REVIEW

Isepamicin (also known as isepamycin) is an aminoglycoside antibacterial with good activity against strains producing type I 6''-acetyltransferase, a upregulated enzyme present in resistant strains. The antibacterial spectrum includes Enterobacteriaceae and staphylococci. Anaerobes, Neisseriaceae and streptococci are resistant. Recent work has also indicated that isepamicin might be active in vitro against Gram-negative bacteria with resistance to amikacin and other aminoglycosides.
