REVIEW

Amitraz is a non-systemic formamidine acaricide and insecticide. Its effectiveness is based on alpha-adrenergic agonist activity, interaction with octopamine receptors of the CNS and inhibition of monoamine oxidases and prostaglandin synthesis. Because amitraz is less harmful to mammals, it is also used as an animal ectoparasiticide.
