REVIEW S-allyl-L-cysteine is a sulfur containing amino acid found in garlic with antioxidant, anti-cancer, antihepatotoxic, neuroprotective and neurotrophic activity. S-allyl-L-cysteine has potent activity in several animal models of ischemic injury and Alzhemer′s disease.
