REVIEW Trityl candesartan is a key intermediate used in the preparation of Candesartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist used mainly for the treatment of hypertension. Trityl candesartan is also used in the preparation of the prodrug candesartan cilexetil. Copper (II) complexex of trityl candesartan have also been shown to have antihypertensive activity.
