Inhibits DNA topoisomerase II and induces DNA damage and apoptosis
Form:
HCl salt
Research Area:
Inhibitor of reverse transcriptase and RNA polymerase; immunosuppressive agent; intercalates in DNA.
REVIEW A broad spectrum antitumor agent. Induces DNA damage by intercalating into DNA and inhibiting topoisomerase II. Binds covalently to DNA. Inhbibits reverse transcriptase, RNA polymerase and the catalytic activity of Dnmt1. Immunosuppressive. Antineoplastic. Induces apoptosis. Down regulates c-myc and c-jun in doxorubicin-sensitive cells.
