 Androsterone is a steroid hormone produced in the body from 5a-reduced metabolites of dehydroepiandrosterone and possesses 7-fold weaker androgen potency compared to that of testosterone. It is the major androgen excreted in urine as a metabolite of testosterone and is used as the international reference standard for androgenic activity.
