REVIEW Paeoniflorin is a glycoside isolated from the root of Paeonia lactiflora. Paeoniflorin has been used as an anticonvulsant and has hypoglycemic effect. This compound reverses guanethidine-induced hypotension by activating Adenosine A1 R (the central Adenosine A1-Rs) in the brain.
