REVIEW Artesunate is part of the artemisinin group of drugs that treat malaria, which is a semi-synthetic derivative of artemisinin that is water-soluble. It has also been shown to effective against other parasites such as liver flukes. Artesunate also demonstrates cytotoxic action against cancer cell lines of different tumor types.
