REVIEW
 Diosgenin, a steroid sapogenin triterpene, is the product of hydrolysis by acids, strong bases, or enzymes of saponins, extracted from the tubers of Dioscorea wild yam, such as the Kokoro. It has estrogenic activity and can reduce the level of serum cholesterol.
