REVIEW

Octhilinone is a biocide and fungicide used in various formulations, including latex paints. A cysteine-reagent compound, it has been shown to inhibit in the nanomolar range monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL), the major enzyme responsible for the degradation 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) levels. 2-AG has been proven to participate in numerous physiopathological phenomena such as neuroprotection or analgesia. During the course of octhilinone use, allergic responses to this biocide have become well-documented, requiring obvious care in the protection of the user.
