REVIEW
 Blonanserin, is a novel atypical antipsychotic agent, marketed in Japan and Korea, with dopamine D(2), D(3)/serotonin 5-HT(2A) antagonistic properties used for the short and long term treatment of schizophrenia. Blonanserin has low affinity for 5-HT2C, adrenergic alfa1, histamine H1, and muscarinic M1 receptors, but displays relatively high affinity for 5-HT6 receptors. These receptor binding profiles may minimize its potential to induce certain adverse effects such as orthostatic hypotension, oversedation, weight gain, metabolic abnormalities, and peripheral anticholinergic side effects.
