REVIEW

1-Cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-7-chloride-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-1,8-napthyridine-3-carboxylic acid is a key intermediate in the synthesis of 7-amine based fluoroquinoline antibacterials agents. Reaction at the 7- chloro with amines, in particular secondary amines, gives rise to a range of fluoroquinolones with antibacterial activity.
