REVIEW Diacetylacyclovir is a key intermediate in the preparation of acyclovir, a guanosine analogue antiviral drug. Acyclovir is one of the most commonly used antivirals, primarily for herpes simplex virus infections, as well as for infections of chickenpox and shingles.
