REVIEW Clopidol is used in veterinary medicine as a broad-spectrum coccidiostat belonging to the pyridine group. It is active against different species of Eimeria such as E.tenella, E.acervulina, E.maxima, E.brunetti, E.necatrix, E.mivatis, and E.praecox. Clopidol hinders the development of sporozoites or trophozoites of Eimeria spp., as it act against the electron transport system within the parasite mitochondria.
